Eligibility for Enrolment

We are currently accepting enrolments for Year 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 in 2024. The year group will increment each calendar year until  2025 when we will enrol Year 7 to 12.

A child is guaranteed enrolment at Bob Hawke College if their usual place of residence is within the local intake area; they are an Australian citizen or permanent resident of Australia or hold an approved temporary residence visa; and are under the age of eighteen years of age. Eligibility may also be granted through selection in the College’s Gifted and Talented Secondary Selective Academic Program and the Bob Hawke Regional Academic Scholarship Program. Applicants who do not meet these criteria may be considered through the enrolment application process but are not guaranteed enrolment. Where a child’s usual place of residence is not in the local intake area, an application for enrolment may be considered if the College will have places available for local students for the duration of the child’s enrolment and can meet the educational requirements of the child.

All families retain the right to apply to enrol their children at any public school. Applications received from outside the local intake area will continue to be considered by the College in line with the enrolment priority table below.

Enrolment Process

Enrolment at Bob Hawke College is a two-stage process.

  1. Application for Enrolment – A parent or responsible person lodges an Application for Enrolment form with the College. The Principal will consider the information provided and determine if the child is eligible for enrolment. By lodging the completed application, the applicant is requesting consideration for enrolment by the Principal based on true, complete and accurate disclosure of required information. All applications will receive a response at the earliest convenience of the College. Applications from outside the local-intake area received by the application closing date, the first Friday of Term 3 each year, will be notified of the outcome three weeks after that date.
  2. Enrolment – If your child is eligible for enrolment, you will be provided with further information by the College and required to complete an Enrolment form. The College may request further information to support the planning for an appropriate education program for your child.
