On September 10 Bob Hawke College celebrated its first R U OK? Day. This will be a regular placeholder on the College calendar as we seek to continuously remind ourselves of the important role that peers play in checking in and ensuring others are experiencing good mental health.
The student leaders worked together to create awareness of how we can look after ourselves and one another through decorating the amphitheatre and handing out wristbands, as well as the selling of R U OK? Day cookies and yellow scrunchies, of which all proceeds, in excess of $300, will go to R U OK? Day. Throughout the day we celebrated all of the of the ways that we can maintain positive mental health through holding a mindfulness session, dodgeball event, the playing of giant lawn games and being part of a lunch time concert where students rejoiced in their friendships and connections.
Thank you to everyone who celebrated R U OK? Day with us at Bob Hawke College.
